Rajesh Singh captured six wickets for 24 runs to help Sonepur beat Bargarh by nine runs in an exciting preliminary league match of the Inter-District U-16 Boys Cricket Tournament at Hi-Tech Ground in Bhubaneswar today. Rajesh turned out to be the most successful bowler of the day.
Bhubaneswar-A, Nuapada, Khordha and Jharsuguda posted wins in four other matches of the day. But the match between Bhubaneswar-B and Puri was abandoned after the former were bowed out 181 in the first session. Odisha Cricket Association, however, did not disclose the reason for which the match was abandoned.
Four more bowlers bagged four or more wickets in the day. They were: Vinay K Sharma (Bargarh), Kunal Das (Puri), Arric Yahan (Deogarh) and Kanishk D Sharma (Nuapada). Among successful batsmen of the day, Bidyadhar Behera and Ayush Sutar (both Bhubaneswar-A), Brain H Singh (Gajapati) and Sandhan Mohanty (Bhubaneswar-B) hit a half-century each.
