  Yazdani, Club-73 boost football in Orissa

The partnership between Yazdani International and Club-73 has come up with another bonanza for football in Orissa. The 12th Satyabrata Memorial All-Orissa Floodlight Football Tournament at the Kalinga Stadium here from December 1 to 7 will be the event to witness the fruitful association of the two entities. Twelve leading teams of the state have confirmed to participate in the tournament, which offers the highest prize money in the state. ``Out of a total cash prize of Rs 1.80 lakh, the champion and runner-up sides will receive Rs 60,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively,`` announced sponsors Yazdani International`s Managing Director Seraj Yusha at a press conference today.

 

The hosts also offer a television for a lucky spectator everyday during the week-long tournament. SAI Hostel are scheduled to meet Barabati Sporting in the all-Cuttack opening match at 2.30 pm on December 1. Other 10 teams in the fray include Mangala Club, State Sports Hostel (both Cuttack): Unit-VI Athletic Association, Yazdani Club-73 (both Bhubaneswar): Ispat Club (Balasore), Samaleswari Sporting (Sambalpur), Utkal Sporting (Khurda), East Coast Railway, Orissa Police and Nalco. Beside conducting the most lucrative tournament, Club-73 has been running a football academy here with the help of Yazdani International, a minerals exporting company. ``The residential academy with former Mohammedan Sporting player Akshyay Das as its coach, has developed a strong team by providing good coaching, training and other essential facilities,`` said club president Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra. ``The team has achieved notable success by winning three tournaments in a short span of two months. The club will next aim to win a tournament outside the state,`` he added. Meraj Yusha, also the Director of Yazdani International, vice-president Raja Dhupar and cluh secretary Subrat Patnaik were present at the media conference.
