  Indian women thrashed yet again
08 Nov 2008

Australia thrashed India by 118 runs to win the fourth one-dayer increase the lead to 4-0 lead in the five-match Women`s ODI series at Canberra today. Chasing a record 281 for an elusive win in the series, India were bowled out for 163 with four overs to spare. Earlier, Aussie captain Karen Rolton (101) scored her eighth international hundred, while opener Alex Blackwell (106) also hit a ton on a record-breaking day for the hosts at Manuka Oval. Rolton`s century set the world record for the most number of ODI centuries by a woman. Her first century in more than three years was scored off just 91 balls and helped the Aussies post 281 for three, their highest score against India. For the third match in a row, India`s chase never threatened the hosts and by the 17th over, India had slumped to 4-51 with star batter Mithali Raj dismissed for 22. A spirited 56-run partnership between anagha deshpande and Priyanka Roy was hardly of any help as India were outplayed yet again. Ellyse Perry led the wicket-takers for the hosts with figures of 3-21, while Emma Sampson took 2-24. The final match of the series will be played here tomorrow.
