East Coast Railway lifted the 12th Satyabrata Memorial All-Orissa Day-Night Football Tournament, routing Orissa Police 3-0 in the final at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today.
After a barren first half, the railway side rode on a hat-trick by Maheswar Das to lift the trophy, which carried a cash prize of Rs 60,000. Runners-up Orissa Police were given Rs 30,000, while losing semifinalists Yazdani Club-73 and Samaleswari Sporting took home Rs 10,000 each.
Railway striker Gyana Ranjan Samal was adjudged man of the tournament and his teammate Maheswar Das was named the man of the final match. The former earned Rs 10,000, while the latter received Rs 5,000.
Five individual prizes, carrying Rs 5,000 each, went to best goalkeeper Anindya Dev, best defender Sasadhar Behera (both Railway), best mid-fielder Dilip Barla, best forward Avimanyu Pande (both Police) and most promising player Prashant Nayak (Club-73).
Brahmagiri MLA Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, sponsors Yazdani International Managing Directors Seraz Yusha and Meraz Yusha gave away the trophy and cash prizes amidst fireworks.
