J Mohit Mayur (Tamil Nadu) improved his national ranking by lifting the boys` singles title in the AITA (under-16) Super Series Tennis Tournament at Rourkela today. The girls` singles crown was clinched by Delhi`s Smiti Joon, who missed a title double by losing to West Bengal opponents in the doubles final. Andhra Pradesh lad Surya Pawan compansated his defeat in the singles final by winning the doubles title in association with his brother Surya Sirsala. The title winners gained 50 ranking points each, while the runners-up garnered 40 points apiece. National Institute of Technolgoy (Rourkela) director Prof S K Sarangi and Police IG Prana Bindu Acharya handed over prizes at the closing function.
