Among Indian men who participated in full marathon, Ram Singh Yadav got prize money of $ 2,500 for claiming first position in 02:18:03, while Deep Chand and Narender Singh claimed second and third position to walk away with prize money of $ 2,000 and $ 1,650 respectively. Mumbai Marathon proved twice lucky for Ram Singh Yadav as he was selected by Standard Chartered Bank for overseas training. Among Indian women L Aruna Devi came first in 3:09:59 despite lack of practice. Grabbing second position was Indresh Dhiraj who clocked 3:14:13, while Leelamma Alphanso came a distant third in 3:16:26. Event promoters Procam International have spent around Rs 10.5 million on the event, while they are expecting to generate around Rs 10.1 million. The Corporate Challenge, another avenue to generate money, had about 163 corporate teams, each team comprising of 30 members and it was mandatory for each team to raise atleast 2.25 lakhs. Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) emerged winners in the Corporate Sporting Challenge.
