Club-73 of Bhubaneswar won the 5th All-India Biju Patnaik Memorial Invitation Football Tournament, edging out favourites Tata Football Academy (TFA), Jamshedpur 3-2 in the final, via tie-breaker at the Ispat Stadium in Rourkela today. Teams were locked goalless at end of the regulation time. In the penalty shoot out, Manabesh Mohanty, Rupai Hansdah and Khiradhar Soy scored for the winners, while Raju Gaekwad and Hardeep Singh netted for TFA. Club-73 custodian Santosh Das made two spectacular saves to help his team take the top prize of Rs 25,000. Runners-up TFA received Rs 15,000. State Steel and Mines Minister Pradeep Kumar Amat gave away the trophy as chief guest. Police IG (WR) Pranabindu Acharya and MLA Sarada Prasad Nayak were present at the closing function. Footballers Kishore Das, Ashrita Kisan, Seeta Sharma and Karishma Oram: chess kid Utkal Ranjan Sahu, weightlifter Sangita Singh and karateka Rajiv Singh were felicitated on the occasion.
