The Biju Patnaik Mini Marathon, scheduled to be conducted by State Sports Department here on March 5, has been postponed due to unavoidable reason, a release from State Directorate of Sports and Youth Services said on Tuesday. With the election code of conduct coming into force, the state government sponsored event, offering a total a total of Rs 2.18 lakh as prize money is believed to have been shelved. The postponement also confirmed that the State government was useing sports only to get publicity mileage. The election code of conduct seemed to have provided a better service to sports in Orissa than the Naveen Patnaik government. If the code of conduct becomes a permanent feature, sports would be much better in Orissa. That is what majority of sports lovers feel in the state.
