Birla Tyres, Balasore won the 10th All India Knock-out Football Tournament, defeating Army Junior, Lucknow 3-0 in the final at the Sersa Stadium, Bondamunda (Rourkela) today. The winners rode on a brace by Pranab Nayak (18th and 45th minutes), while a self-goal from Swapan Thapa of the Lucknow side completed the tally. OSAP 4th Battalion Commandant Puroshottam Sahu handed over the trophy in the presence of former Indian hockey captain Prabod Tirkey and South Eastern Railway Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer N K Barnwal. Earlier in the semifinals, Birla Tires defeated local favourites Shining Club 2-0, while Army Junior edged past Samaleswari Sporting (Sambalpur) 3-2, via tie-breaker.
