Local boy Ashutosh Mohapatra was crowned champion in the first all-Orissa children chess tournament, which concluded at Kaushik Art School, Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar today. An eighth standard student of Unit-9 Venkateswar English Medium School, Ashutosh topped the table, securing seven points from eight rounds. International Sidhant Mohapatra also garnered as many points to tie for the top spot. But Ashutosh was declared champion eventually on the basis of having a progressive score of 34, compared to 28 by Sidhant. Local corporator Sanju Balababantaray gave away the prizes at the closing function of the three-day tournament, which was organised by Kaushik Art School. FINAL STANDINGS (Top 10): 1.
