Cricket for women received a boost in Orissa with Bhubaneswar girl Priyanka Priyadarshini Sahoo getting selected to join the National under-19 women’s coaching camp to be conducted at Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh from May 18 to June 1. The right-arm off-break bowler will travel from Bhubaneswar by air on May 16. Priyanka was called for the National camp on the basis of her impressive performance in East zone and inter-zonal tournaments earlier this year. She bagged 10 wickets from five matches in both junior (u-19) and senior East Zone tournaments. In the East Zone Senior Women’s tournament, Priyanka collected 27 scalps from five matches. Her performance included five wickets against Manipur and four wickets each against Bengal and Assam. The hard-working bowler also claimed four wickets in as many matches she played in the inter-zonal women’s one-day meet. Priyanka has been honing her skills under the guidance of coach Khirod Behera at the OUAT ground.
