  3 teams from Orissa for eves rugby Natls

Orissa will be represented by three teams in the first Women’s National Rugby 7s Championship to be held at Bombay Gymkhana in Mumbai on May 23 and 24. Orissa Rugby Football Association (ORFA) secretary U K Mohanty named the three teams as Bhubaneswar, Balasore and Kalinga Institute of Social Schiences (KISS). Besides Orissa teams, 13 teams are set to take part in the National meet. These include Jungle Crows, Manipur, Mumbai Rhinos, Jammu & Kashmir, Nanded, Pune 1, Pune 2, Frank Anthony College, Kerela, Assam, Manipur, Rajahstan and Jharkhand. Eighteen probables for the Asian Women’s 7s Rugby Tournament will be selected at this tournament. The probables will then join a training and preparation camp to be held at Pune from May 25 to 28. A 12-member final National squad will depart on May 28 for the Asian meet to be conducted at Bangkok on May 30 and 31. Indian women will make their international debut there. Asian Women’s Rugby 7’s Championships will feature 12 teams. Other 11 teams include Arabian Gulf, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Iran, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
