  Tennis coach Sarangi set to attend World conference

Orissa’s top tennis coach Subhransu Charan Sarangi has been recommended by All India Tennis Association (AITA) to attend the international tennis coaches world-wide conference to be held at Valencia (Spain) from October 29 to November 5. This will be Sarangi’s second exposure in the world forum, the first being in 1999 at Casablanca (Morocco). Held once in every four years, the world-wide conference has been accepted as a major training event for tennis coaches the world over and is mentored by coaches of the numero unos of the professional tennis circuit. A regular participant in various national and international coaches workshop, Sarangi earlier attended the Asian Coaches Workshop at Thailand in 2006 and had the opportunity to work with eminent coach Bob Brett. He has been licensed to conduct the Australian Open Tennis Workout with Peter McNamara since 2004. In the Valencia workshop, renowned speakers and participants would include Miguel Crespo (ITF), Alberto Riba (Spain), Paul Roetert (USA), Stefan Lindinger (Austria), K Farouk (Egypt), Di Gia Como (Italy), E Gillet (France). Leading players such as Rafael Nadal, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Carlos Moya are scheduled to give several on-court presentations on various aspects of the sport, including speed training, science in tennis and psychology. Being a member of Society for Tennis Medicine and Science (STMA), Sarangi would also attend a three-day workshop to be held in valencia from November 5 to 7. Himself a former player, Sarangi has been grooming players at Orissa Tennis Academy here for over five years.
