Bikash Swarup Pati and Niranjan Behera scored a half-century each to anable Orissa make 232 for seven on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Super League (Group-A) match against Punjab at Sector-16 Stadium in Chandigarh today.
Pati hit 10 boundaries in his 63-ball knock of 52, while Behera’s 72 off 163 balls included seven hits to the rope. But Punjab speedster Love Ablish stole show of the day, scalping five wickets for 86 runs.
Earlier put into bat, Orissa compiled 56 runs for the opening wicket before skipper Shiv Sundar Das was dismissed for 14. Niranjan Behera and Pravanjan Mullick (28) put on 68 runs for the fourth wicket to carry Orissa to good position. But Punjab snatched the advantage by taking four wickets in space of 23 runs.
