  10 qualify for senior arbiter title

Ten out of 15 candidates today became eligible to get the senior arbiter title in chess after securing a minimum of 80 per cent marks in the examination held during an all India technical conference in Bhubaneswar from December 29 to 31, 2009. The successful candidates include four from Orissa, two from Tamil Nadu and one each from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tripura. Earlier, the candidates were trained on various aspects of chess, including laws of the game, rating regulations, title regulations and arbiter regulations. The three-day technical conference and the examination were organised by Orissa Chess Ad-hoc Committee on behalf of All India Chess Federation and under the supervision of international arbiters K Muralimohan and Prof R Anantharaman. New senior arbiters: Tapas Kumar Mohanty, Suresh Chandra Sahoo, G C Mohapatra, Bhabesh Mohanty (all Orissa): Dr T Raja, V S Sriman (both Tamil Nadu): Sushant Arunrao (Maharashtra): Pradip Kumar Roy (Tripura): K Karunakar Reddy (Andhra Pradesh): Promod More (Karnataka).
