Andhra Pradesh men and host Orissa women registered multiple wins to inch closer to the quarterfinals of the 24th Senior National Baseball Championship at the Ravenshaw University ground in Cuttack today. Andhra Pradesh beat Puducherry, last year’s runners-up Orissa and Jharkhand to emerge leaders in Pool-B. Defending champions Goa headed Pool-A with thumping wins over Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh. Among other men’s teams, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Jharkhand registered their second victories in the pool league. In the women’s section, last year’s runners-up Orissa scripted their back-to-back wins over Madhya Pradesh and Haryana in Pool-B. Holders Goa, Punjab, Delhi and Chhatishgarh won the four other pool matches of the day.
