Mahesh Prasad Sethi of PG Vani Vihar won the individual title, scoring seven points in the Utkal University Inter-College Chess Tournament, which concluded at Madhu Sudan Law College in Cuttack today.

Gyana Ranjan Sethi of BJB College finished runner-up with six points. The duo along with Bholanath Nayak (LN College, Jagatpur), Sourajit Jena (SG College, Kanikapada) and Mithun Ray (PG Vani Vihar) qualified to represent Utkal in the North-East Inter-University Chess Tournament to be held later this year. Earlier BJB  College won the team title, while PG Vani Vihar finished runners-up in the team event.
