Jajpur boy Pranab Kumar Patra and Bhubaneswar girl Saina Salonika emerged champions in the Orissa State Under-7 Chess Championship, which concluded at St Xavier’s School in Dhenkanal earlier on Monday.

Altogether 82 players from across the state participated in the three-day championship. Top five finishers of the state meet qualified to represent Orissa in the National under-7 championship to be held at Jamshedpur from November 21 to 30.

Other qualifiers included Amitanshu Priyadarshan, Baibhab Singh, Bedang Sarangi, Ankit Ray (all boys), Nikita Mallick, Sunayana Mishra, Sushree Mohapatra and Shreya Smruti Mohanty (all girls).
