Sports Hostel girls Dutee Chand and Purnima Hembram won a gold each to help Orissa bag seven medals in the 26th Junior National Athletics Championships, which was held at Bangalore December 1 to 4, 2010. Dutee on the gold in under-16 girls 100m sprint, clocking 12.00 seconds. In the process she bettered the National record of 12.21 seconds that existed in the name of A Jessey of Tamil Nadu.

Hembram won the other gold medal for Orissa in under-18 girls heptathlol, securing 4729 points. Rabi Das and Reena Baa claimed the two silver medals in boys-20 long jump (7.49 metre) and girls-20 heptathlon (4232 points) respectively.

The three bronze medals were grabbed by Sekunta Kullu (U-16 girls 100m, 13.21s and long jump, 5.13m) and Anil Kumar Das (U-18 boys 110m hurdles, 14.59s).
