West Bengal athlete Jauna Murmu made her home state Orissa proud by winning one gold and one bronze in the 3rd Asian All Star Athletics Meet, which concluded at New Delhi today. She struck gold in women’s 400 metre hurdles event, clocking 57.39 seconds.

Now honing her skills under the guidance of coach S C Dasmohpatra at Durgapur in West Bengal, Janua claimed the bronze in 400 metre sprint with a timing of 53.17 seconds. Hailing from Mayurbhanj district, she started her career at the Bhubaneswar hostel and spent five years at Kalinga Stadium Hostel, under the tutelage of senior government coach Arun Kumar Das.
