Bureaucrats XI beat defending champions Media XI by eight wickets in the final to win the Tata Friendship Cricket Tournament at East Coast Railway ground in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. D P Biswal was instrumental in the triumph, hitting an unbeaten 65. He was adjudged both the man of the tournament and the best batsman.
The one-day tournament, featuring four teams, was organised by Tata Steel. Earlier in the semifinals, Bureaucrats XI thrashed Legislators XI by 10 wickets, while Media XI outplayed Tata Steel XI by seven wickets. Oriya dailly `Dharitri` editor Tathagata Satpathy handed over the trophy at the presentation function. Tata Steel Orissa project vice-president Hridayeshwar Jha was present on the occasion.
