Altogether 16 teams, including two from Indonesia, seven from Orissa and one each from West Bengal, Gujarat, Daman-Diu, Tripura, Bihar, Jharkhand and Saurashtra participated in the day-long tournament. Teams were divided into four groups and after group league matches, top two teams from each group advanced to the knock-out phase (quarterfinals).
Food and Supply Minister Sarada Prasad Nayak handed over the trophy at the glittering presentation function. South Central Railway General Manager H K Padhi, Indian Gateball Union president Dwaipayan Pattanaik, secretary Sanjay Pattanaik and Orissa Gateball Union president Jayasurya Kanungo were present on the occasion.
