Asif Haque of Cuttack and Samartha Prusty of Bhubaneswar bagged a double each in the 19th YGTTA All-Orissa Open Table Tennis Tournament, which concluded at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack tonight. Asif emerged champion in junior and youth boys singles categories, while Samartha pocked titles in junior girls and women`s singles events.
Tausif Haque accomplished a hat-trick of titles for their family, defeating his younger brother Asif to lift the men`s singles crown. Other four titles of the three-day tournament were claimed by Soumya Ranjan Pati, Tithi Prakash Dalai, Subhendu Dutta and Anjali Agarwal.
Over 200 paddlers from 16 district and institutional units joined the three-day tournament, which was inaugurated by Orissa Olympic Association secretary Asirbad Behera. East Coast Railway Sports Association president D K Samantaray, Orissa State Table Tennis Association secretary Rabindra Kumar Parida and host Young Generation Table Tennis Association president G C Bose handed over the trophies at the closing function.
