April 24: PM Academy and Khannagar High School emerged joint champions of the 19th Debabrata Kar Memorial Inter-School Football Championship as the final match between the two sides was abandoned after seven minutes due to incessant rain at PM Academy ground here today.

Nihar Paniker (Stewart), Chhabi Behera (PM Academy) Ramesh Sahoo (Khannagar), Bikash Sahoo (Khannagar) were adjudged best defender, best mid-fielder, best goalkeeper and best striker as well as player of the tournament respectively.

Christ Collegiate School beat Stewart School 3-2 to finish third. Sharukh Khan starred in the Christ Collegiate win with a hat-trick, while Adarsh Das netted a brace Stewart.

Earlier in the semifinals,PM Academy blanked Stewart School 3-0, while Khannagar High School edged out Christ Collegiate 1-0. Former minister Pratap Jena handed over the trophy in the presence of Barabati MLA Debashish Samantray and Cuttack Mayor Soumendra Ghosh.
