Anwesha Mishra turned out to be the only medal winner among 11 Odisha players, securing a bronze in the girls’ category of the National Under-11 Chess Championship, which concluded at Delhi today. A student of St Joseph’s School in Cuttack, Anwesha finished third in the 11-round competition, scoring eight points.

Saina Salonika and Adyasa Mahapatra, the other two Odisha girls in the fray, finished fourth and ninth respectively. In the open category, Ansuman Samal was most successful, occupying the 11th position with eight points.
