OSAP 6th Battalion (Cuttack) emerged champions in the 72nd State Police Football Tournament, defeating Commissionerate Police `B` 2-0 in the final at Reserve Police ground here today. Kartik Chandra Mahanta and Prashant Kumar Nayak were the scorers for the victorious team.

Altogether 33 police teams participated in the tournament, which commenced earlier on September 22. 4th IR Battalion (Deogarh) finished third, beating Koraput District 3-0. Dilip Pattnaik, Basant Swain (both Commissionerate Police-B); Dinesh Tirkey, Himanshu Majhi (both 4th Battalion, Deogarh); Hrushikesh Behera (6th Battalion) were adjudged as best goalkeeper, best defender, best forward, best mid-fielder and player of the tournament respectively.

Police DG Prakash Mishra handed over the trophy at the closing ceremony. DG (HQ) Sanjib Marik and Cuttack DCP S Pravin Kumar were present on the occasion.
