Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam (Karala) bagged a double by winning both the men`s and women`s titles in the All-India Inter-University Badminton Tournament, which concluded here KIIT University Indoor Stadium today.
In the women’s final, M G University beat Mumbai University (Maharastra) 2-0. Osmania University (Hyderabad) and Aligarh Muslim University (UP) finished third and fourth respectively.
The men`s final went to full distance before M G University got the better of Punjab University (Chandigarh) 3-2. Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak (Haryana) and Andhra University (Vishakhapatnam) occupied third and fourth positions respectively.
Prof Susant Das of OUAT and host KIIT University Registrar Dr Sasmita Samanta handed over the trophies at the closing function. Altogether 31 Universities from 17 states participated in six-day the tournament.
