  Delhi shuttlers bag Sub-jr National double

Delhi bagged a double by winning both the boys` and girls` singles titles in the under-15 category of the 27th Sub-junior National Badminton Championship, which concluded at J N Indoor Stadium here today. Manipur and Maharashtra claimed the two singles titles in under-13 age group of the week-long championship, which was hosted for the first time in Odisha.
Home shuttlers came a cropper in the week-long championship as none among them could reach quarterfinals in any of the six events. Earlier, Odisha Governor Dr Senayangba Chubatoshi Jamir inaugurated the championship in the presence of host Odisha State Badminton Association working president F C Subudhi and secretary Pradip Mohanty.
 

Over 400 boys and girls from 30 states are competing in the main draw of the championship, which is being staged in Odisha for the first time.

U-13 boys` singles: Maisnam Meiraba (5, Man) bt Aakash Yadav (1, Del) 14-21, 21-12, 24-22.
U-13 girls` singles: Simran Singh (Mah) bt Ritika Thaker (6, Mah) 21-10, 21-12.
U-13 boys` doubles: Tukum Laa-Yash Raikwar (Aru-MP) bt Maisnam Meiraba-Akash Thakur (Man-Bih) 14-21, 21-12, 21-15.
U-13 girls` doubles: Richa Muktibodh-Drithi Yatheesh (Kar) bt M Nivetha-S Winona (TN) 22-20, 21-12.
U-15 boys` singles: Kartikey Gulshan Kumar (2, Del) bt Arintap Dasgupta (1, WB) 22-20, 17-21, 21-8.
U-15 girls` singles: Kanika Kanwal (1, Del) bt Ashmita Chaliha (2, Asa) 21-15, 10-21, 21-10.
U-15 boys` doubles: D Sanjai Srivatsa-S Sribalaji (Pon) bt G Krishna Prasad-R Satwik Sai Raj (AP) 21-14, 21-10.
U-15 girls` doubles: K Ashwini Bhat-U K Mithula (Kar) bt Cherish D`Souza-Kalpita Sawant (Mah) 21-14, 16-21, 21-16.

U-13 boys singles (2nd round): Ritansu Singh Rana (Jhar) beat Abhishek Mohanty (Odi) 21-9, 21-5; P Vishnuvardhan Goud (AP, 10th) beat Priyal Goyal (Odi) 21-13, 21-9; Anish Kumar Mishra (Jhar, 12th) beat Roshan Singh (Odi) 22-24, 21-19, 21-17; R Pranay (AP, 15th) beat Prayash Kumar Mohanty (Odi) 21-12, 21-13.
U-13 girls` singles: 1st round: Priya Shukla (UP, 8th) beat Swayamsuchi Mishra (Odi) 21-8, 21-9; Priya Devi Konjengbam (Mani) beat Jasmine Sahu (Odi, 16th); M Nivetha M (TN) beat Yashashree Samal (Odi) 21-8, 21-6. 3rd round: Riya Sachan (Del) bt Jasmine Sahu (Odi, 16) 21-14, 21-7.
