Feb 5: Odisha Police men and Bhubaneswar Athletic Association (BAA) women emerged champions in the 55th State Basketball Championship for Nalco Cup, which concluded here at Barabati Stadium today.
In the men`s final, Odisha Police upset defending champions Samanta Chandra Sekhar Club (SCSC), Cuttack 65-38. Earlier in the semifinals, Odisha Police beat BSNL, while SCSC prevailed over city opponents Celtics Club.
The women`s final proved to be a close affair with defending champions BAA edging out Cuttack District Athletic Association 41-35. Nalco Director Shyama Charan Padhi handed over the trophies in the presence of Odisha Basketball Association secretary Ashok Kumar Sahu. The four-day championship was hosted by Cuttack Basketball Association.
