Jain University (Bangalore) emerged champions in the 7th KIIT Premier League All-India Inter-University T-20 Cricket Tournament at KIIT University Stadium here today. Jain University rode on a 54-ball 68 by R Samarth to beat Andhra University in the final by 49 runs.
Earlier in the semifinals, Jain University beat Delhi University by 26 runs, while Andhra University defeated host KIIT University by 50 runs. Champions Jain University received a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs and runners-up Andhra University became richer by Rs 1.5 lakhs.
Former India cricket stars Vinod Kambli and Narendra Hirwani handed over the trophy and cash prizes at the closing function. KIIT University and Delhi University pocketed Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 by finishing third and fourth respectively in the week-long tournament.
