Odisha won a national medal after a gap of 15 years when Bhubaneswar girl Pratyasa Ray secured bronze in 50 metre backstroke event of the 31st Sub-junior National Aquatic Championship, which concluded at Indore (MP) today. An eight-member squad represented Odisha in the three-day championship.

Odisha’s last national medal had been claimed by Rankanidhi Seth of Sambalpur in 50 metre backstroke event of the Kolkata National Championship in 1998-99. Pratyasha had represented Odisha in two national championships earlier but without success.
