  BSNL men, BAA women win state titles

BSNL regained the men`s title while Bhubaneswar Athletic Association (BAA) lifted the women`s crown in the 56th Senior State Basketball Championship which concluded at the SOA University basketball complex here today.

In the final, BSNL downed last year`s champions Odisha Police 78-72 in a close encounter with Ashok Nayak top scoring for the winners with 25 points. For the policemen, Asis Behera was the finest player on view scoring 20 points.

In the women`s final, BAA defeated Cuttack District Athletic Association (CDAA) 42-30. For BAA, Rajashree was the top scorer with 14 points while S Patnaik (10) was the highest scorer for CDAA.

 

Earlier in the semifinals, BSNL pipped Odisha Postal 80-78 while Odisha Police outclassed BAA 65-34. In the women`s category, CDAA beat Bhadrak 27-25 and BAA defeated Ganjam 16-10. Host SOA University Vice-chancellor D K Roy presented the trophies at the closing ceremony.
