Pravesh Sini and Sukumati Laguri emerged winners in male and female category respectively in the 10 km category of the Tata Steel Bhubaneswar Run-a-thon, the first professional run of the city organised by the steel major here today.
The winners received cash prizes of Rs 51,000 each. A whopping 3,144 competitors joined the event, which was conducted in five categories for male and female. The run was flagged off from Kalinga Stadium and ended at the same venue via Chandrasekharpur.
For the first time in the state, runners were given smart RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) chips to track their performance and location. Winners of the 7km run in corporate and institution category received Rs 15,000 each.

Police DG Sanjeev Marik, Sports Secretary Saswat Mishra, Development Commissioner U N Behera, BMC Commissioner Dr Krishna Kumar, CRPF DIG T N Khuntia, Berhampur MP Sidhant Mohapatra, eminent cricketer Sourabh Tiwari, Tata Steel Vice-president Arun Mishra, GM Prashant Mallick, CRE Manikanata Naik and Sports Head Charles Borromeo handed over the prizes at the closing ceremony.

Institution & college category: Men`s 7km run: 1. Suraj Budra, 2. Krishna Jonka, 3. Jai Prakash. Women`s 7km run: 1. Samsad Ara Begum, 2. Heera Majhi, 3. Rabati Sahoo.
Corporate & organisation category: Men`s 7km run: 1. Ashish Maharana, 2. Kinchan Kishan, 3. Pitha Munda. Women`s 7km run: 2. Rupashree Das, 3. Amita Rout.
School category: Boys` 5km run: 1. Harekrushna Manda, 2. Krishna Nanda, 3. Susil Kumar Soren. Girls` 5km run: 1. Jayasen Raita, 2. Manisha Tarasia, 3. Dangi Murmu.
Senior citizen category: Men`s 5km walk: 1. Bibhudendu Panda, 2. Raju Dora, 3. Santosh Kumar. Women`s 5km walk: 1. Iti Sahoo, 2. Malati Murmu, 3. Geeta Bhuyan.
