June 22: Lalit Ranjan Sahoo of Old Stewart School, Cuttack, emerged champion, scoring 6.5 points out of a possible eight in the 6th Schools Open Chess Tournament, which concluded here at DAV Public School, Kalinga Nagar today. Altogether 72 players from 14 schools had participated in the two-day tournament.

Anantprava Naik of Kendriya Vidyalaya No 6 (Bhubaneswar) and Jagadish Ghadai of host DAV Public School, Kalinga Nagar finished second and third respectively. Host school Principal Bipin Kumar Sahoo gave away the prizes at the closing function.
