  East Coast Railway win FAO Women League Title

East Coast Railway (ECoR) emerged champions in the 4th FAO Women Football League, edging out Government Sports Hostel by a solitary goal in the hard-fought final at Bidanasi ground here today. The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and the runners-up outfit Rs 15,000.

Odisha Olympic Association secretary Asirbad Behera handed over the trophy in the presence of office-bearers of host Football Association of Odisha (FAO). Altogether eight teams participated in the fourth edition of the league, which was skipped last year. Teams played league matches after being divided into two groups and the top two teams from each group qualified for the semifinals.

 

RESULTS:
July 5 (Match No 1): Sunshine Club (Menaka Mallick 8th, 42nd) beat Mangala Club (Nikita Bishi 56th) 2-1.
July 6 (Match No 2): East Coast Railway (Sangita Patra 17th, Lochana Munda 21st, Supriya Routray 39th) beat Sunrise Club 3-0.
July 6 (Match No 3): Government Sports Hostel (Jabamani Tudu 7th, 42nd) beat Chand Club 2-0.
July 7 (Match No 4): Mangala Club (Pyari Xaxa 45th, 55th) beat Odisha Police (Punam Ekka 58th) 2-1.
July 7 (Match No 5): Radha Gobinda Club (Swarna Priya Naik 15th, Sasmita Ghatuary 45th) beat Sunshine Club (Satyabrati Khadia 66th) 2-1.
July 8 (Match No 6): East Coast Railway (Sangita Patra 14th, Subhaprabha Rout 51st, Jhili Munda 56th) beat Government Sports Hostel (Jabamani Tudu 4th) 3-1.
July 8 (Match No 7): Sunrise Club drew with Chand Club 0-0.
July 9 (Match No 8): Odisha Police (Sakina Nisha 56th, Puspita Majhi 60th) beat Sunshine Club (Menaka Malik 76th) 2-1.
July 9 (Match No 9): Mangala Club drew with Radha Gobinda Club 0-0.
July 10 (Match No 10): East Coast Railway (Supriya Routray 69th) drew with Chand Club (Purnima Rao 74th) 1-1.
July 10 (Match No 11): Sunrise Club drew with Government Sports Hostel 0-0.
July 11 (Match No 12): Odisha Police (Jabamani Soren 14th, Sakina Nisha 28th) beat Radha Gobinda Club 2-0.
July 13 (Match No 13, 1st SF): Sports Hostel (Sasmita Behera, Srijan Tamang, Jabamani Tudu) beat Odisha Police 3-0 in penalty shoot out (Full time: 0-0).
July 14 (Match No 13, 1st SF): East Coast Railway (Supriya Routray 21st, 38th; Subhadra Sahoo 48th, 63rd; Jhilli Munda 24th, Subhaprava Rout 44th) beat Mangala Club 6-0.
July 15 (Match No 15, Final): East Coast Railway (Pratima Minz 48th) beat Sports Hostel 1-0.
