  Delhi Public School boys shoot to glory

Delhi Public School (DPS), Kalinga emerged champions in the Kalinga Marine Inter-School Penalty Kick Football Tournament, edging out St Joseph`s High School 4-3 in the final here at Unit-VI High School ground here today.

Dhyanendra Bhanjadeo was the star of the DPS triumph, doubling up as their main scorer and reliable goalkeeper. He scored four goals in four matches and effected eight saves, including two in the final.

He was adjudged the best goalkeeper of the tournament. Aditya Pradhan, Rishav Parekh and Satchit Nayak were other three DPS players to convert penalty kicks in the final.

 

Altogether 13 schools participated in the offbeat tournament, which was organised by Unit-VI Athletic Association on the rest day of the MCL Cup Inter-School Tournament. Earlier in the semifinals, DPS beat DAV School, Unit-VIII, while St Joseph`s got the better of Times Scholar Gurukul. Football Association of Odisha vice-president Bhakta Ballabh Das handed over the trophy at the closing ceremony.
