  AITA U-12 Super Series double crown for Amrutjay

Local boy Amrutjay Mohanty achieved the biggest success of his tennis career by clinching a double crown in the Falco AITA-OTA U-12 Super Series Tournament at Kalinga Stadium here today. Top seed Amrutjay beat second seed Hasith Gummuluru (AP) 6-3, 6-4 in the singles final to add the title to the one he had won in doubles with statemate and Abhishek Mohapatra, getting the better of fourth seed Karnataka pair of Anmay Y Devraj and K Sriram Das in the final 6-3, 7-5 yesterday.

This was the third singles and sixth overall AITA title for Amrutjay and the points he gained in this tournament are supposed to help him climb up from fifth to this position in all-India under-12 rankings.
 

Naisha Srivastav of Karnataka lived up to her top billing by securing the girls singles title with a 6-3, 6-0 win over fourth seed Vidhi Nimesh Jani of Gujarat. Vidhi, however, had the satisfaction of winning the doubles title yesterday with Aneesha Mukherjee of West Bengal as her partner. In the doubles final they beat prevailed over Telangana pair of Thanushitha Galiveti and Sanjana Sirimala 6-3, 6-7(4), 10-4.

Title winners both categories gained 50 ranking points each, while the losing finalists settled with 40 points apiece. The under-12 event will be followed by under-14 tournament from Sept 12.
