Bhubaneswar Annual Athletic Meet ended on predictable lines with trainees of Government Sports Hostel emerging team champions and students of Government College of Physical Education finishing runners-up at Kalinga Stadium here today.

Around 450 athletes from 24 institutions of the capital city participated in the two-day meet, which was organised by Bhubaneswar Athletic Association (BAA). A total of 101 events were conducted in men, women, under 20, 18, 16 and 14 boys and girls categories.

National level athletes such as Sekunta Kullu, Damayanti Murmu, Tapati Sahoo, Manika Barwa, Saraswati Chatter and Sagarika Mohapatra lived up to their reputation by grabbing one or more medals.

Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena presented the trophies at the closing function. Organising Committee chairman Ashok Mohanty, BAA secretary S R Parija and other office bearers were present on the occasion.
