  Double crown for West Bengal; Odisha finish third

West Bengal bagged a double by winning titles in both boys and girls categories of the Junior National Rugby Championship, which concluded here at Kalinga Stadium today. West Bengal boys faced stiff fight in the final against Delhi before winning 8-7.

The girls` final proved to be a lop-sided contest with West Bengal making mincemeat of Maharashtra 42-0. Host Odisha finished third in both the categories. Odisha boys prevailed over Maharashtra 31-10, while the girls got the better of Delhi 17-0.

The five-day tournament, organized by Orisha Rugby Football Association, was inaugurated by hockey Olympian and Rajya Sabha Member Dilip Tirkey in the presence of local MLA Priyadarshi Mishra.

Boys: For 11/12 position:
Gujarat drew with Kerala 0-0. For 9/10 position: Punjab bt Chhattisgarh 13-0. For 7/8 position: Bihar bt UP 8-5. For 5/6 position: Tamil Nadu bt Andhra Pradesh 22-0. For 3rd position: Odisha bt Maharashtra 31-10. For 1/2 position: West Bengal bt Delhi 8-7.
Girls: For 8/9 position: Chhattisgarh bt Gujarat 10-0. For 7/8 position: Kerala bt Chhattisgarh 15-0. For 5/6 position: Bihar bt UP 5-0. For 3/4 position: Odisha bt Delhi 17-0. For 1/2 position: West Bengal bt Maharashtra 42-0.
