  Delhi University lift trophy in KIIT Premier League

Delhi University emerged champions in the 9th All-India KIIT Premier League (KPL) T20 Cricket Tournament, defeating Al-Falah University in the final by three wickets at KIIT Cricket Ground here today. This is the fifth time that Delhi University won the title in KPL.

The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, while runners-up Al-Falah University took home Rs 1.5 lakh. Host KIIT University pocketed the third prize of Rs 50,000 and Utkal University claimed the fourth prize of Rs 25,000. Every league match winner received Rs 10,000.

 

Former India pace bowler Chetan Sharma handed over the trophy and cash prizes in presence of KIIT & KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta and Kendriya Vidyalay Sangathan Commissioner Santosh Ku Mall. The tournament with 12 teams in the fray, assumed international status with joining of Daffodil International University, Bangladesh.

Former India pace bowler Pravin Kumar inaugurated the tournament in the presence of KIIT & KISS founder Prof Achyuta Samanta, Registrar Prof Sasmita Samanta and Odia cine star Anuvab Mohanty.

Feb 22 (Match No 1):
Daffodil International University 144/8 in 20 overs (Amit Mazumdar 56, Nuruzzaman 23, Moinul Islam 21; GDS Suresh 4/23) lost to Andhra University 147/2 in 10.3 overs (KS Bharath 89, CH Praneeth 34) by 8 wikts.
Feb 20 (Match No 2): Andhra University 192/3 in 20 overs (KS Bharat 119, G Saleh 28, PV Shyam Prasad 20; Karan Dagar 2/34) beat Delhi University 124/10 in 15.3 overs (Lalit Yadav 28, Akash Antil 21; P Varnis 3/15, G Manish 2/15) by 69 runs.
Feb 20 (Match No 3): Al-Falah University 189 (Y Dagar 51, Azam Khan 41, B Yadav 28*, Gourav Chitkara 25; Piyush Pattnaik 2/40) beat Revenshaw University 76/10 in 16.3 overs (D Khanna 4/20, Y Dagar 2/4) by 113 runs.
Feb 21 (Match No 4): Goutam Budha University, Noida 184 in 20 overs (Utkash 42, Sumit 38, Jagat Kishor 35, P Bedi 27; Himanshu 3/33, Sumit 2/17) beat Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi 169 (Pranav 58, Simranjeet 34; Gaurav 3/14, Aman 3/31) by 15 runs.
Feb 22 (Match No 5): Ravenshaw University, Cuttack 111/10 in 18.2 overs (M Swain 26, Sarthak Parida 21, Akash Agarwalla 20; Harsh V Singh 4/43, Harsh Gill 3/10, Vaishav Gauhania 2/14) beat Delhi Technological University, Delhi 93/5 in 20 overs (Harsh V Singh 32, Karan Narang 28; Piyush Pattnaik 2/14) by 18 runs.
Feb 23 (Match No 6):
KIIT University 150/9 in 20 overs (Abhilash Mallick 70) beat Lovely Professional University 119/8 in 20 overs by 31 runs.
