Maharashtra sweep Sub-jr Natl, Fed Cup kho-kho titles
12 Jun 2016 BHUBANESWAR

Maharashtra made a clean sweep of all four titles in the 26th Sub-junior National and Federation Cup Kho-kho Championships, which were organised by Odisha Kho-Kho Association (OKKA), under the aegis of Kho-Kho Federation of India (KKFI) at KIIT University here from June 8 to 12.

Karnataka finished runners-up in sub-junior national girls and Federation Cup men events, while Kolhapur women settled as Federation Cup runners-up. Though Jharkhand boys ended sub-junior national runners-up, the result was withheld due to technical reason.

The best player prizes in sub-junior boys and girls were bagged by Maharastra duo Subham Thorat and Sakshi Kare respectively. The best player prizes in Federation Cup men and women categories were pocketed by Mahesh Sindhe and Aishwarya Sayaant (both Maharastra) respectively.

Host Odisha failed to achieve any notable success in either competition. OKKA could not even field a team in men’s category of the Federation Cup. In the final placings, Odisha sub-junior boys and girls finished ninth and seventh respectively, while their women occupied the fifth position.

State Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Kumar Mallick graced the presentation ceremony as chief guest and handed over the trophies.
