Leading Odisha tennis player Avilash Mishra achieved a notable success by winning his maiden title in under-18 boys’ doubles event of the AITA National Series (NS) Tournament at Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad today.

Partnering with Jo Oges from Tamilnadu, Bhubaneswar-based Avilash defeated Mritunjay Badola (Haryana) and Armaan Bhatia (Maharashtra) in the final 7-6, 0-6, (10-7). With this win Avilash moved up to top 50 in all-India boys’ under-18 rankings.

A trainee of Farhan Ali Tennis Academy, Avilash reached singles pre-quarterfinals of the Hyderabad National Series Tournament before losing to third seed Muthu Aditya of Tamil Nadu 7-5, 3-6, 4-6. He is currently having 18.75 ITF raning points in boys’ under-18 category.
