  Dutee, Srabani, Amiya win medals at Bishkek

Indian athletic squad, featuring Odisha sprinters Dutee Chand, Srabani Nanda and Amiya Kumar Mallick, bagged one gold and two silver medals on the day of the XIX International Competition on the prizes of Olympic Champion Tatiana Kolpakova, at Bishkek in Kyrghystan today.

The Indian men’s 4x100m relay quartet, which included Amiya, took the gold, clocking 39.9 seconds. The Indian women’s 4x100m relay team, featuring Dutee and Srabani, claimed the silver with a timing of 44.45 seconds.

In the women’s100 metre sprint, Dutee settled with silver, clocking 11.47 seconds. She qualified for the final, by winning her heat with a timing of 11.41 seconds. However, qualifying mark for the Rio Olympic Games continued to dodge all three athletes from Odisha.

 

Other members of the Indian squad included Jyothi Hiriyur Manjunath, Merlin Kurian Joseph, Sini Sahadevan, Himashree Roy (all women); Jyoti Sankar Debnath, Krishna Kumar Rane, Abdul Najeeb Qureshi and Vidya Sagar (all men).
