Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) and host Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) teams gained one point each in their rain-marred one-day match, which ended in a draw at Just Cricket Ground today. The two teams were scheduled to meet each other in the second round of the Dr (Capt) K C Thimmappiah Memorial Cricket Tournament from July 28 to 31. But the match was washed out without a ball bowled.

As a substitute of the four-day match, the two teams played the limited-over match on the rest day. However, this contest also became a victim of the inclement weather. But the Odisha side made good use of whatever amount of play was possible with Biplab Samantray hitting a stroke-filled 75 (124 balls, 4x4, 5x6).

Electing bat, Odisha were in deep trouble, losing five wickets for 60 runs. But Samantray steadied the innings with a 77-run partnership for the sixth wicket with stumper Saurabh Rawat, who scored a useful 31. The visitors further consolidated their innings thanks to an unbroken eighth-wicket stand of 71 runs between Debabrata Pradhan and Bikash Rout.

When rain brought the match to a premature end, OCA XI were 241 for eight. They will play their third and last Zone-A league match against Tripura from August 3 to 6.
