  Jogabyasa-led Odisha team scales Mt Indrasan

A seven member Odisha adventure team, led by international mountaineer Jogabyasa Bhoi, successfully scaled Mount Indrasan (6221 metre, 20410 feet), an important peak at the eastern end of the Pir Panjal mountain range in Himachal Pradesh, yesterday.

The team, guided by seven-time Mt Everest conquerer Pemba Serpa, Pasang Serpa, Dukpa Serpa, Lila Serpa and Tuthpen Serpa, reached the top of Mt Indrasan on June 24 at 11.50 AM.

Other six members of the team were: Romanchal Bhoi, Satyapira Pradhan (both Kalahandi); Animesh Sahoo (Bolangir), Bhabani Shankar Rana (Sonepur), Sourav Bhoi and Salim Darka (both Sambalpur).

 

The expedition was flagged off by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Odisha Tourism Minister Ashok Chandra Panda on June 3, 2016. The team started off from Manali on June 3.

The expedition was recognised by Indian Mountaineering Federation (IMF). Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) was the main sponsors of the expedition, providing a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh, while Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) contributed Rs 5 lakh.
