Prabhat Kumar Ojha won the title in the State Open Rapid Chess Championship, which organised by Orissa State Chess Association (OSCA) at Orissa Secretariat Recreation Club (OSRC) here on October 29 and 30, 2016. He scored nine points out of a possible 10.

Altogether 80 players from 16 districts participated in the tournament, which was inaugurated by Balasore Irrigation Division Executive Engineer Raj Kishore Ghadai. OSCA secretary Smruti Ranjan Das, vice-president Arati Bijoy Mohanty, tournament director Debasis Panigrahi and OSRC general secretary Managobinda Dalai were present on the occasion.
