  State table tennis double crowns for Ananya, Swetapadma

Bhubaneswar duo Ananya Basak and Swetapadman Dalai bagged two singles titles each in the Sarada Prasan Memorial 22nd Inter-District and Odisha State Table Tennis Championship, which was organised by Sarada Prasan Memorial Trust, under the aegis of Odisha State Table Tennis Association OSTTA, here at Sahid Nagar Indoor Hall from November 4 to 7.

Ananya emerged champon in junior girls and women categories, while Swetapadman top honours in cadet and sub-junior girls groups. Nakul Jamula, Saheel Sundar Bhuyan, Kishan Prusty, Bikash Singh, Asif Haqua, Rajesh Chourasia and Fiaz Mohammad captured the other seven singles crowns in the four-day championship.
 

Accountant General (AG) Odisha and Cuttack-A won the men’s and boys’ team titles in the championship, which featured a total of 262 players from 20 district and six institutions. The AG Odisha team, comprising Kallol Ganguly, Sagar Ghatge and D Debadutta Mohanty won the men’s final with hard-fought 3-2 win over defending champions Cuttack-A, which was represented by Tousif Haqaue, Eshwar Rao and Arya S Mohapatra.

In the junior boys’ team final, Cuttack-A, featuring Eswar Rao and Arya S Mohapatra, edged out Bhubaneswar 3-2. Krishan Prusty and Amrit Chakraborty represented the local team. The championship was inaugurated State Sports Director A K Jena and IOCL Executive Director P C Choubey.

IOCL DGM, F X Benedicto graced the prize distribution ceremony as chief guest. Utkal University Business Administration HOD Prof Dr B B Mishra, OSTTA secretary R K Parida, vice-president Chitta Ranjan Mohanty, organizing secretary Dibyasakti Mohanty, chief referee KSN Murty, umpires Sujit Ray, jeevan Ballav Samal and Tapan Kha were present on the occasion.

RESULTS:
Cadet girls singles: Swetapadma Dalai (BBSR) bt Sushree Patnaik (Khurda) 3-1 (15-13, 11-9, 6-11, 11-9).
Cadet boys singles: Nakul Jamula (Khurda) bt Ankur Biswal (BBSR) 3-0 (11-9, 11-4, 12-10).
Sub-junior girls singles: Swetapadma Dalai (BBSR) won title at group league topper, while Yoshita Jamula (Khurda) finished runner-up.
Sub-junior boys singles: Saheel Sundar Bhuyan (Cuttack) bt Mohit Behuray (Cuttack) 4-0 (11-4, 11-7, 11-9, 11-9).
Junior girls singles: Ananya Basak (Khurda) bt Ankita Senapati (BBSR) 4-0 (11-6, 11-4, 11-5, 11-8).
Junior boys singles: Kishan Prusty (BBSR) bt M Eshwar Rao (Cuttack) 4-1 (11-9, 9-11, 11-9, 11-3, 11-7).
Youth boys singles: Bikash Singh (RSP) bt Pranat Sachin (KIIT) 4-3 (11-9, 9-11, 13-11, 12-10, 9-11, 3-11, 11-6).
Women singles: Ananya Basak (Khurda) bt Samartha Prusty (BBSR) 4-0 (11-4, 11-3, 11-7, 11-9)
Men singles: Asif Haque (Reserve Bank) bt Sagar Ghatge (AG Odisha) 4-1 (11-6, 11-8, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8)
40+ veteran men singles: Rajesh Chourasia (RSP) bt Albert Kindo (RSP) 3-1 (11-4, 8-11, 11-8, 11-8).
50+ veteran men singles: Fiaz Mohammed (ECo Rly) bt FX Joseph (IOCL) 3-2.
Junior Boys Team Finals: Cuttack-A beat Bhubaneswar 3-2 (Eswar Rao lost to Amrit Chakraborty 2-3; Arya S Mohapatra lost to Krishan Prusty 1-3; A Mohapatra-E Rao beat A Chakraborty-K Prusty 3-2; E Rao beat K Prusty 3-2; A Mohapatra beat A Chakraborty 3-1).
Mens Team Finals: AG Odisha beat Cuttack-A 3-2 (Tousif Haque beat Kallol Ganguly 3-0; Eshwar Rao lost to Sagar Ghatge 0-3; Arya S Mohapatra lost to D Debadutta Mohanty 0-3; Tousif Haque beat Sagar Ghatge 3-0; Eshwar Rao lost to Kallol Ganguly 0-3)
