  Abhishek, Ameek capture Odisha Open TS titles

Abhishek Mohapatra and Ameek Kiran Batth made it a double for Odisha, winning the boys and girls singles titles respectively in the AITA-Odisha Open U-16 Talent Series Tennis Tournament, which was organised by Khurda District Tennis Association, under the aegis of Odisha Tennis Association at Bhubaneswar Club here from Nov 5 to 7.

Local boy Abhishek defeated West Bengal opponent Kanav Goel 6-2, 6-3 in the final to clinch his third singles and 10th overall AITA career title. He gained eight AITA ranking points, while runner-up Kanav gathered six.

In the girls singles final, top seed and local favourite Ameek beat second seed Aneesha Mukherjee (West Bengal) 6-2, 6-1. This was the sixth singles and 12th overall AITA career title for Ameek, who like Abhishek is a trainee of Bhubaneswar-based Farhan Ali Tennis Academy.

 

The three-day tournament was inaugurated by industrialist Jagadananda Mohapatra in presence of OTA president Madhusudan Padhi and touranament director Anup Kumar Naik. Odisha Accountant General Ambalavanan R distributed the trophies in the closing ceremony. KDTA secretary Asit Pradhan, tounament referee Jatin Batsya and OTA manager Prakash Pattnaik were present on the occasion.
