Gulam Navi (Uttarakhand) proved himself to be most successful lifter, pocketing the best lifter prize in youth boys and junior men categories. The best lifter award in youth girls and junior women categories were claimed by Mohini Chavan (Maharashtra) and Monalisha Sonowal (Assam) respectively.
Staged for the first time in Odisha, the championships produced a total of seven new national records in different categories. Other medal winners of the 30-member Odisha squad were: Jhilli Dalabehera (one silver and two bronze), Neha Soren (three bronze), Moti Jani (one silver, one bronze), Bina Soren (one bronze) and Shrikant Mallick (one bronze).
The championship was inaugurated by Odisha Sports Minister Sudam Marndi earlier on November 30. State Sports Secretary Vishal Dev, Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) vice-president Sahadev Yadav, secretary Chandrahas Ray, host Odisha Weightlifting Association (OWA) secretary Narayan Sahu, weightlifting Olympian K Ravikumar, organizing secretary Hariprasad Pattanayak and OWA vice-president Chitta Ranjan Swain were present on the occasion.
Bhubaneswar North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, Dronacharya Awardee Pal Singh Sandhu and IWF treasurer Mahesh Lohar handed over the prizes in the closing ceremony. OWA secretary Narayan Sahu, OWA vice-president Chitta Ranjan Swain and Utkal Karate School founder Hari Prasad Pattanayak were present on the occasion.
