  BJEM School bag Kusha Patnaik Memorial Trophy

Buxi Jagabandhu English Medium School (BJEMS) lifted the Kusha Patnaik Memorial Trophy by emerging champions in the 15th Bhubaneswar Inter-School Cricket Tournament which was organised by The Veterans’ Cricket Association of Odisha (VCAO) at BJB College here from December 6 to 18, 2016.

BJEM School outplayed Sai International School in the final by 88 runs to receive the top prize of Rs 8,000. Runners-up Sai International School took home Rs 6,000. Altogether 24 teams participated in the tournament.

Olympian Anuradha Biswal handed over the trophy in the closing ceremony. Bhubaneswar Athletic Association president Suresh Routray, VCOA president Ashokananda Jena, secretary Biren Das and other office-bearers were present on the occasion.
 

Earlier in the semifinals today, Sai International beat DAV School (Chandrasekharpur) by 52 runs, while BJEM School got the better of St Xavier’s School (Khandagiri) by 44 runs.

INDIVIDUAL PRIZES: Player of the tournament: Bibhansu Sekhar Ray (BJEM School). Best batsman: Sudarshan Swain (BJEM). Best bowler: Jyotirmay Acharya (Sai Internationa School). Best wicket-keeper: Abhijit Tripathy (BJEM). Best fielder: Priyanshu Mishra (Sai International).
